Red granite rocky outcrops dominate the landscape of this small, 1800 hectare, but intensely interesting reserve. The reserve is within easy reach of both Johannesburg and Pretoria and makes for an ideal day or weekend outing. Wildebeest, zebra and kudu are the principal game species. There is also a flourishing herd of tsessebe and birdlife is prolific.
The three day, 17km, Tjhetjhisa hiking trail starts from the northern sector of the reserve and can accommodate two groups of 8 people travelling in opposite directions. Bushwalks are also offered.
Accommodation at the self-catering C.N. Mahlangu Lodge can house guests in 16 two-bed rondavels. A swimming pool is an added attraction.
