Bantry Bay is an upmarket residential suburb on one of the most beautiful stretches of coastline in Cape Town and some would say in the world. Here you find some of the finest hotels, guest houses and apartment blocks where the very wealthy build houses hanging off the cliffs or wedged in between large Granite boulders.
This stretch of coastline has the most sheltered beaches in Cape Town, and although the water is too cold for more than a quick dip, the beaches face the setting sun, making for longer days as well as spectacular sunsets.
The coastline is steep and rocky, the bay itself is almost inaccessible, as exclusive apartment blocks line the sea cliffs, however, anglers sometimes fish off the rocks. Southern Right whales and dolphins are frequent visitors in the bay.
