Blythedale Beach is known for its beautiful white beaches, which stretch for kilometers, and warm subtropical east-coast oceans, often accompanied by dolphins and /or whales, which are often a sighting.
The Umvoti river mouth is located not so far from Blythedale beach, and is a home to many exotic and beautiful bird life, making it a key destination for birders. Some of the well known of the species are the white-eared barbet, lesser sand plover, blue-mantled crested flycatcher, scaly-throated honeyguide, chestnut-branded plover, and of course, the African spoonbill.
