About Hazyview

Hazyview is a small farming town and is renowned for its banana industry. The area is reputed to have the best climate in the world for bananas and you will see row upon row of these lush tropical plantations.

Hazyview, ideally situated just a few kilometres outside the Kruger National Park, derives its name from the summer haze that envelopes the lowveld bush, which occurs during the heat of the summer season. Most of Mpumalanga's private game reserves are found just east of Hazyview.

One of the most popular activities in Hazyview is to go hot air ballooning over the shimmering valley. The views are truly spectacular and unforgettable. There are also many superb hiking trails and game viewing opportunities.

Hazyview boasts an array of delightful restaurants and pubs. The Windmill Wineshop offers a wonderful selection of wine and good food and for beer lovers, The Brewery and Summerfields Kitchen is not to be missed as they brew their own beers.

Situated on the slopes of the Drakensberg Mountain Range, the town of Hazyview was established in 1959 when the post office was built. The history of gold that was found in the area played an important role in the establishment of Hazyview and the Selati Railway Line was built as a result of this.
