About Maruleng

Maruleng municipality is wedged between some of Limpopo's prime tourist attractions. Maruleng is the home of Hoedspruit, the tourism hub of Limpopo - particularly for visitors who have a passion for wildlife and conservation, including the Kruger National Park, Timbavati Private Reserve and the Blyde River Canyon. The area falls within the Valley of the Olifants tourism route.

Soaring cliffs meet infinite expanses of bushveld; where vast plains stretch as far as the eye can see, bursting with wildlife, acacia, marula trees and mopane woodlands.

History

Maruleng was first established in 1997 under the name Hoedspruit. Named after the Marula tree, Maruleng means the 'place of Marula’. The Municipality is known for its agricultural strengths - Blyde Valley Sugar and Letsitele Citrus Plantations.
