About Ekulindeni

Formerly known as Eerstehoek, this lovely little town is situated on the Southern border of the picturesque Songimvelo Nature Reserve and it is from this nature reserve that it derives most of its economic benefits. The Songimvelo Nature Reserve boasts an area of over 50 000 hectares and encompasses gorgeous looming mountains and glistening valleys and flood plains. It is only accessible by horse-back from eKulindeni as the terrain is incredibly tough.

Game viewing in eKulindeni is plentiful and mostly limited to herbivores including elephants. This allows for care-free horse riding and hiking as there are no predators in the area. The wetlands and shimmering lakes afford visitors the opportunity to enjoy thrilling water sports, swimming, fishing and bird watching.

EKulindeni also borders the kingdom of Swaziland. This area is the last absolute monarchy in sub-saharan Africa, and home to numerous ancient ruins of the lost Legoya people as well as San paintings.
