Pamplemousses is named after the grapefruit imported by the Dutch who first colonized Mauritius in the seventeenth century. this small unassuming town is not touristy, nor trendy , but it certainly is worth a stop over if you are interested in Mauritian history, or want to see the famed botanical gardens.
