Welcome To Denis Island

About Denis Island

Denis Island lies 95km north of Victoria, Mahé and 45km from Bird Island, making it one of the most northerly of all the Seychelles' islands.

Like many Seychelles islands, in the heyday of the coconut industry Denis was a coconut plantation, whose population of between 70 and 100 persons were engaged in collecting guano (decomposed bird droppings), producing coprah (refined coconut flesh) and fishing.

It has a short airstrip and a holiday resort with 25 guest chalets.

Denis Island is privately owned by Denis Julian.

Why go?

Denis Island offers excellent nature walks and accomomodation, as well as the facilities of tennis, diving, windsurfing, canoeing and of course sunbathing on its gleaming white beaches

The waters around Denis, some of the finest for diving in Seychelles, feature a number of dive sites for seeing turtles, sharks, sting rays, sailfish, tuna and dolphins with whale sharks and manta rays often sighted from September to November.

Enthusiasts flock to the waters of Denis for their abundance of game fishing and runs of bottom or bone fishing trips.

Here you can experience the thrill of a fishing charter with experienced crews using state-of-the-art equipment. The local art of bottom-fishing or 'palangrotte' is a firm favourite with bone-fishing also increasing in popularity.
