About Luderitz

Luderitz is a quirky coastal town in Namibia on the least hospitable coast in Africa.

It is known for its colonial architecture, including some Art Nouveau work, and for wildlife including seals, penguins, flamingos and ostriches.
Luderitz has re-styled itself in an attempt to lure tourists to the area, and its appeal as a town lies in the fact that little has changed since the early 20th century.

The coastline in the area is recognised by Bird Life and other global conservation groups as one of the Important Bird Areas (IBAs) for important coastal seabird breeding.
