The Lowveld Legogote region, which is situated in the lower reaches of the Mpumalanga escarpment, is home to the provincial administration in Nelspruit and is located in relatively close proximity to Gauteng. The area can also be accessed via the Kruger Mpumalanga Airport.
The region is world-renowned for its climate, scenic beauty, cultural attractions and wildlife - a fantastic area for tourists to visit with its spectacular natural charms and excellent facilities. This region is popular amongst tourists with many curios and crafts available from roadside vendors. There are a variety of attractions to explore.
Some of the classic Mpumalanga towns and natural attractions include the picturesque village of Kaapschehoop along with its legacy of being a wild horse town. White River is regarded as somewhat of an artist's colony and it has a mesmerising butterfly garden. The area is well known for the Sudwala Caves (one of the oldest dolomite caves in the world), the Lowveld Botanical Gardens close to Nelspruit which has, amongst its indigenous repertoire, one of the largest collections of cycads in the world, an African rainforest as well as several hiking trails. There are many other hiking trails in the region as well.
The Lowveld Legogote gives you direct access to the Kruger National Park, which is one of the largest of its kind in Africa being home to the Big Five animals and the Big Six Birds. While visiting the Lowveld be sure to visit the towns in the area such as Kaapsehoop, Nelspruit and White River.
